Points for Family or Group Discussion
- Growing is good for a Christmas tree and for a person. What does it mean to grow?
- What makes you happy?
- Trimmer and tree shapers are important to a tree's growth. Who shapes or shaped your life?
- Being trimmed and shaped can be a bit frightening. Are you afraid when faced with that prospect? Have you grown "straighter and better" for having been "trimmed and shaped" in your life?
- The little tree learned by listening to the other trees. Have you learned by listening to others older than yourself?
- What are the stories told by your family? What are your family's traditions?
- The tree calls to her creator. Is prayer part of your life?
- What did you think you would be when you grew up? Did you have other gifts that allowed you to take a different path? What other possibilities might there be for you?
- What are your personal gifts?
- A rooted tree cannot be pulled out by hand. What does it mean to be rooted in life? ...in your family? ...in our world?
- The miracle of life is our ability to appreciate the here and now. Do you think about today or do you worry about the past and the future?
- What is the miracle of Christmas for you?
- Can you list several things that you are most grateful for?
